Russia plans to produce more than 600 of its own aircraft in the next six years, as stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. He said, "Over the next six years, a total of over 600 completely domestically-produced jetliners are to be built." The planes will include types like SSJ-New and MC-21-310. "This project is important for linking different parts of Russia," Mishustin explained.
The government will help plane makers grow with a program funded by the Russian National Wealth Fund, offering 280 billion rubles. The program provides for the technical rearmament of production plants, increasing production capacities and conducting construction work. Mishustin also talked about the goal to make more Russian cars and buses, especially after foreign companies left due to sanctions. These sanctions were imposed by Western nations following Russia's military action in Ukraine in 2022, which led to a ban on aircraft supply to Russia and restrictions on Russian planes entering the airspace of many countries.
